America 250 in Kosciusko County Passport

As Americans join together to recognize 250 years of freedom and independence, we're bringing the patriotic celebration closer to home! Visit historical sites countywide, where you'll find 250 artifacts across 12 locations that have shaped the history of Kosciusko County and our great nation alike. Each piece in the America 250 collection will be denoted with a red, white, and blue ribbon.
Check in at 1 location to receive a sticker, 3 locations to claim a patriotic eagle plush, and 6 locations to enter to win the grand prize drawing for a 6' to 8' tall tulip tree (Indiana's state tree, sponsored by Open Air Garden Center), as well as fun merchandise and goodies from participating historical locations included in the passport. Visit all 12 locations for a bonus entry for the drawing.
Entries toward the drawing will cease at the end of the day on September 7, 2026, with the drawing taking place on September 8, 2026.

The Kosciusko County Hisotrical Society houses the collection's largest exhibit, Located at The Old Jail Museum in Warsaw, you'll find a collection of artifacts that reaches every part of the county.

Opened for the first time in 1838 as an Indian trading post, the Pound Store Museum is the county’s oldest commercial building.

Located in Westminster Hall on the Grace College campus, the Winona History Center showcases Winona’s ties to America’s cultural, educational, and religious heritage through various displays.

Billy Sunday is a former player for the Chicago White Stockings and a preacher who galvanized religion to fight social evils. He settled in Winona Lake in 1911. The Billy Sunday Home Museum holds the Sunday family’s belongings.

The Visitor's Bureau will have a mini-exhibit on display with items borrowed from select participating locations.

Located in Mentone, this museum is dedicated to Mentone native Lawrence Bell. Bell founded Bell Aircraft, inventing the first supersonic jet, the first jet-propelled airplane, the world’s first commercial helicopter, the world’s fastest and highest flying airplane, and the first vertical take-off and landing jet.

The Mentone Historical Museum shares a space with the Lawrence D. Bell Aircraft Museum located in Mentone, Indiana. It focuses on the history of Mentone and the surrounding area, including local school memorabilia, town artifacts, and more.

Located in the Syracuse Community Center across from Lakeside Park, the Syracuse-Wawasee Historical Museum features displays of Syracuse's history, Native American artifacts related to Lake Wawasee, and much more!
